Dasain is the longest and most celebrated festival in Nepal. Dashain has its different names. It is called Dasain, Vijaya Dashami and Dahsera. The capital city, which otherwise used to be teeming with people, is beginning to look almost deserted after people in large numbers left the Kathmandu Valley for home to celebrate the Dashain festival. More than 2.2 million people have left for their homes in various destinations from the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley. Shops at the main market places and city squares are also closed for the festival. There is less traffic on the roads and the movement of people is also sparse.
People are facing problem travelling to different places in the Valley as very few public transport vehicles are plying. Biswas KC of Chitwan, who arrived home from Qatar in connection with celebrating Dasain festival, complained of facing problem going places in the Valley for lack of public transport.He was waiting for a taxi at local Anamnagar and said it has been two hours he has been looking for one and was not getting one
